We are almost there! I have been rushing to post a few more Gift Wrapping tutorials for you...because I know some of you are still wrapping packages. Today I want to share with you my Paper Pleat Pinwheel Tutorial. It's very easy to do and also affordable as you can reuse those paper scraps you have around.
I like to use handmade papers for my Paper Pleat Pinwheels because they are easy and flexible to pleat and they do not crease. This paper you see on the photos above is Indian handmade paper, just beautiful!
Handmade paper sheet
There are two ways of making Paper Pleat Pinwheels:
1- Cut a 7 to 8 inch long and 3 1/2 wide strips of handmade paper to make a big Paper Pleat Pinwheel.
2- Make folds of about 1/2 inch on your strip forming an accordion.
TIP: You can also cut two handmade paper strips and achieve the same results.
3- Once you folded all your handmade paper strip or strips, gently open it like a fan.
4- Bring the inside edges together and using your glue gun, glue them.
5- If you made two folded paper strips, repeat step 5 to form a half moon shape.
6- Make sure your the center is nicely glued together.
7- Using your glue gun, add some glue on the straight edge and secure your two half moons together.
8- Press it tight with your fingers for a moment.
9- Follow step 7 also if you are making your Paper Pleat Pinwheel using only one paper strip.
TIP: Paper Pleat Pinwheels are great to embellish packages, to hand as ornaments on your Christmas trees and more. You can decorate their centers with flowers or pieces of paper. And also dust the edges with extra fine or coarse glitter!
I really hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will make lots of them! Come back tomorrow for a few inspiring photos ideas of projects where I used my Paper Pleat Pinwheels.
