Valentine's Rose Bud & Lace Necklace Tutorial.

Happy Pink Saturday everyone! Last Saturday you learned how to preserve your Valentine's Day roses. If you missed the tutorial it's here. Today I want you to make yourself a nice necklace...one of those that look ridiculously expensive...and trendy as well... As an avid gardener I love flowers. I am always pressing and preserving them to use in my projects.

Lace seems to be one of the favorite materials used in fashion jewelry these days. You only need a few things to make your necklace. Let's get to it!

MATERIALS:

Vintage lace piece {you can also use ordinary lace...I wanted the necklace to look old!}
Preserved rose bud {mine is red}
Pressed Leaf {this is a rose leaf, don't throw them away!}
Chain
Jewelry pliers
Aleene’s® Fast Grab™ Tacky Glue
Brush {optional}

INSTRUCTIONS:

1- Select a piece of your favorite lace. Mine is about 2" 1/2 or so.
2- Select a favorite style of chain for your necklace.

TIP: Mine is a vintage looking one and can be found a crafts stores that carry a nice selection of jewelry making materials. You can buy a package or in bulk. The type of metal to use on your necklace is entirely up to you to decide, I used a brass chain.

3- Use a piece of chain long enough to go through your head. I used a piece of chain about 17" long to make mine.
4- Make a thin fold on your lace piece. Fold it back, it will add a nicer finish to it.
5- Using your jewelry pliers open slightly open the rings on both ends of your chain piece.

TIP: Do not worry if you do not know how to use jewelry pliers. Just keep trying, it's easy. I did it! These tools will be handy to use in other projects, get a basic set if you can. Shop around...

6- Hook one in each edge of your lace piece. Close and secure them using your jewelry pliers.
7- Now you have a necklace with a pendant, right?
8- You are now ready to embellish it!
9- Select your favorite preserved rose bud and leaf.
10- Using a brush {although is optional as you can use squeeze small drops from your Aleene’s® Fast Grab™ Tacky Glue bottle. Add a few drops of glue to the back of your rose and leaf.

11- Remember that you are designer of your own necklace. Layer your pressed leaf first onto the lace as a background.
12- Then add your preserved rose bud right on top of it.
13- Let dry completely.

Your Valentine's Rose Bud & Lace Necklace is ready to use!

IDEAS: These necklaces will make frugal and yet nice wedding decorations, favors, bridesmaids accessories, guest gifts, etc.

What interesting things I'm learning today! And I'll delve in to the Rose Preservation tutorial later---my husband brought me a red rose on Saturday, the anniversary of the day we met, and by Sunday p.m., it was in a sad state of droop and sigh. I STILL don't know what I did to the poor thing, as it's the same vase and same preservative powder we've used for years.

Thank you for the lesson, and I'll be back soon.

What a gorgeous share today. I love this tutorial, and can think of many uses and occasions when it will come in handy. How generous of you to share.

I love the use of the lace, and the preserved rose and rose stem is so pretty. Your selection of materials was exquisite. It looks so antiqued, and I love that most.

Thank you for sharing sweet friend. Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Valentines Day as well.

Country hugs sweetie, Sherry
