It's Friday and soon will be Pink Saturday! And this will be a fabulous one because we are celebrating the 3 year anniversary. I want to thank our host Beverly from "How Sweet the Sound" for allowing me to meet so many wonderful people through this event.

We will be celebrating in our very own way...right here on our blogs {make sure to visit all blogs listed on hers! Join the party today after 5 pm} with lots of pink...I thought this event would make a great opportunity for me to share with you another crafts tutorial. Two simple reasons for this...

One would be sharing the excitement about teaching my first Spring Camp {my students will be decorating their own sneakers and yes I also have cool samples for boys that will show you later} and the other would be the amount of pink I used to decorate these sneakers! Neon Pink!

I started with a pair of white sneakers from a department store {yes, they were very cheap!}. An ideal canvas to absolutely transform into fashion art. Let me guide you through the process.

MATERIALS:

Tulip® Beads in a Bottle™ Paint {Gemstone palette}I chose the green one.
Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint{Slick in Rose Fl. & White}
Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint{Crystals in Emerald}
Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion®
Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Crystals™

Craft Brushes {various sizes}
Tweezers - long handle {a Crafts Tweezers set would be nice to have when using crystals}
Pencil
Ribbon

INSTRUCTIONS:

Wash your sneakers. Do not use fabric softener and let them dry completely.

1- Using Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint in White paint the back and top of your sneakers.
2- Let dry completely. About four hours.
3- With a thin craft brush paint all seams using Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint in Emerald .
4- Let dry completely. About four hours.

TIP: When painting with crystal/paint you will see the sparks shinning through once is dry. This kind of paint won't cover a surface completely. Depending on your project you might need to apply more than one coat.

5- Using a craft brush paint the front of your sneakers using Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint Slick in Rose Fl.
6- Let dry completely. About four hours.

7- Using a pencil draw {freehand or using a stencil} a heart on the front of your sneakers.
8- Using a craft brush apply Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion® on the canvas and add the Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Crystals™ {one by one} working in sections.

TIP: I always apply the glue and let it rest a little. It will become stickier and crystals will set easier. They can be slippery. Make sure you don't smear them with glue as it is difficult to remove and crystals will loose their shine.

9- I chose orange, violet and green crystals {all available in your multicolour pack} and glued them forming a design. You can do your own.
10- Let dry completely. About two to four hours.
11- It is time now to embellish the seams of your sneakers with Tulip® Beads in a Bottle™ Paint {Gemstone palette} I chose the green one.

TIP: Before using them I highly recommend practising on a piece of paper first. You need to learn how beads form once they come out of the tube. And also see the sizes you can give to your beads. Take a look at the images above. Beads dry better when flat. Work in sections, let them dry and avoid runny paint on your canvas.

12- Hold your Tulip® Beads in a Bottle™ tip at about 1/16" above surface of your seam.
13- Squeeze it gently for the paint to slowly come out of the tip.
14- Let it squeeze out right onto the seam to begin forming a bead.
15- Once the bead is in place lift the tube straight up.
16- Repeat steps 12, 13, 14 & 15 to cover all seams on your sneakers.
17- Let dry completely. About four hours.

TIP: Mind the weather, please. Depending on where you are located paint could dry faster or slower.

Your sneakers are ready and it's time to choose a pretty ribbon as ties. I chose a bright pink ribbon with butterflies and flowers motif. Decorated sneakers make a sweet gift and this particular pair would be great to give to a girl.

Let's head over our host Beverly's blog "How Sweet the Sound" for more fabulous Pinkness! Thanks so much for visiting me today and have a wonderful weekend.
