Christmas Rose Buds Shadow Box Tutorial. And a love story...

Are you giving some handmade gifts this Season, are you? What are you making? Fortunately, considering the fact we had and still have repairs being done at home I managed to make a few gifts ...I really did!

One of my friends met someone really wonderful and started dating a while ago. She received the most beautiful and delicate bouquet of pink roses! Did you know that pink roses symbolize not only romance but happiness, joy and sweetness?

As you can imagine, my friend wanted to keep these roses forever! She first thought about pressing them...but I offered to preserve instead. A shadow box with flowers seemed the perfect option. They will stay just the way she saw them for the first time... forever...and ever...

Today I want to share this sweet project with you. Let's get to it!

MATERIALS:

Shadow box {believe it or not mine is plastic !}
Preserved pink rose buds
Preserved rose leaves
Card stock {mine is textured in a pastel colour}
Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue™

INSTRUCTIONS:

1- Select your shadow box.
2- Carefully put it apart and remove the image. Mine came attached with just tape. It was so easy!
3- Put the mat and glass {this could be wiped} aside.
4- Measure your image, place it on a sheet of card stock and trace around it.
5- You just made your new shadow box background!

Remember the tutorial I posted about preserving your Valentine's Day roses here? You are going to use it to preserve your very own!

6- Once your rose buds and rose leaves are ready to use you will choose the prettiest ones.
7- It's time to layout your rose buds on your shadow box background. Try some and choose one.
8- Using your Aleene’s® Original Tacky Glue™ add a very small drop of adhesive to the back of a rose bud and place it on your shadow box background. It dries clear and flexible, love that!
9- You will be adding one at a time.
10- Let them dry completely.
11- To add the rose leaves, repeat steps 8, 9 and 10.
12- Place your new dried flowers art work inside your shadow box and close it.

TIP: It is always nice to sign and date your art. Remember that your new piece will be exhibited and treasured!

Are you making a few more? If you do make sure you keep them away from direct light and the sun. Enjoy giving handmade gifts this Holiday Season.

DISCLOSURE: I have a material connection with Ilovetocreate because I received a cash payment, gift or other thing of value or product that are mentioned herein.

That is fabulous Gabriela! Somehow I missed or didn't remember the preserving post. Wished I had this info for my wedding bouquet. Next time I get flowers I'll have to try this. Thanks so much for sharing! The shadow box you made is gorgeous.

Beautiful project.

I actually bought this press a while back from Barnes and Noble because I was so struck by the pretty box. I never noticed your name on it until I popped by here for a visit.

My daughter loves using the press and I'll definitely blog about it in the Spring. I'll be sure to link to you when I do.

Take care and enjoy your week.
